Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, founded in 2001, is a private non-profit institution in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It offers STEM-focused academic programs, emphasizing hands-on learning and strong industry connections.
Before you start, please make sure you have the following documents ready:
- Goal Statement: The statement should be at least 1 typed page in length or 200+ words. Not required if you have graduated from a US university.
- Degree Certificates & Transcripts: Upload all university transcripts. Foreign transcripts should be evaluated by WES or ECE.
- Two Current Letters of Recommendation: Letters should be from current or former employers or professors. Not required if you have graduated from a US university.
- Professional Resume.
- Proof of English Proficiency: IELTS (6.0) or TOEFL (80) or DuoLingo (105). Not required if you have successfully completed one full semester of graduate studies from a regionally accredited US institution of higher education with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Passport: Individuals already in the US must also upload copies of their visa, most recent I-20 (if applicable), and I-94.
- Bank Statement: Bank statements of $27,190 in financial support. Pay stubs cannot be used as proof of financial support. If you are using sponsor bank statements, you must also submit an affidavit of support.
Step 1: Consult with CISI for Optional Programs
Harrisburg University offers numerous master’s programs that support Day 1 CPT. Before applying, contact CISI to choose the program that best fits your background. Considerations for the chosen program include: when does OPT expire? What major are you studying? What is your highest level of education? What type of job are you currently doing or planning to pursue? Does the job involve overtime? Where do you reside? Based on these factors, CISI will recommend the most suitable program to avoid potential pitfalls.
Step 2: Obtain the Application Form
After deciding your intention, provide CISI with your legal name and email. CISI will request Harrisburg University’s application form HMS to be sent to your email. Ensure this email has not been in contact with the school or any for-profit agencies to qualify for CISI’s Stay Good Status Scholarship of $500 check.
Step 3: Complete the Application Form
You will receive a link from HMS of Harrisburg University’s application form. Click the link to access the application form and proceed with filling it out in order. Specific steps include:
Part 1: Student Details
This section includes your name, entry date, target program, campus choice, current visa status, and passport information. Ensure your name matches your passport name exactly.
Selection of major and entry date: Apart from the Techpreneurship M.S. program in the Philadelphia campus, all other majors are primarily based at Harrisburg University’s main campus. Additionally, not all majors have six entry windows per year, and majors related to Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Customer Behavior & Decision Science, and Cybersecurity accept applications only in the Regular Spring/Summer/Fall windows.

This section asks for your visa status. For students currently holding legal student status in the United States, please select F1 transfer and active in current visa status and SEVIS record respectively. For students planning to study abroad in the United States, please select F1 needed and Not Applicable (No SEVIS Record).
Part 2: Personal Information
Students should fill in this section based on personal information.
Part 3: US-based Address (for individuals already living/staying in the US)
Provide an accurate US-based Address, used for receiving mail materials, etc.
Part 4: Permanent Foreign Address (non-US address to be included on I-20)
Provide an accurate permanent address in your home country used for I-20 application. This will not receive any mail materials, etc.
Part 5: Student Academic History
Students must accurately fill in undergraduate degree and school information, high school and earlier degrees do not need to be filled in.
Additionally, this section requires students to complete background questions, including professional background, academic status, language ability, etc. Students can choose according to their circumstances. In normal cases, the answer should all be NO except for the first two questions.
Part 6: Student Professional History
Students need to fill in past work experience in this section. Information to be filled includes the employer’s name, position, and work location. If there is no past work experience, fill in N/A in each box.
Part 7: Upload Supporting Documents
Finally, students need to upload all required documents according to the application requirements, as follows:
For applicants with a US undergraduate or graduate degree, only the following documents need to be uploaded:
- Degree certificate and transcript
- Passport, visa, I-20, I-94
- Personal resume (listing educational and work experience is sufficient)
- Proof of financial resources (minimum $27,040)
For applicants without a US degree, the following additional documents are required:
- English proficiency scores (TOEFL 80 or DuoLingo 105)
- Two letters of recommendation (from professors or colleagues)
- Personal statement (minimum 200 words)
Part 8: Review and Signature
Upload all documents and sign to submit. You will receive an HU admission letter within one week!
CISI Stay Good Status Scholarship
As long as students obtain the application form through CISI and complete the application, if their GPA is > 3.0 in the first semester, they will qualify for a $500 Stay Good Status scholarship check. After the first semester, click on this webpage to register and apply for your exclusive scholarship! Please note: including all CPT schools including Harrisburg University, if the comprehensive GPA is less than 3.0, CPT will be suspended!
