University Overview
Trine University, originally named Tri-State College, was founded in 1884 and is a prominent private university in the U.S. with over 130 years of history. In 2008, it was renamed Trine University. Its main campus is located in Angola, Indiana, in the heart of Steuben, also known as the “Town of a Hundred Lakes.” The area is very safe and has a pleasant environment. The university’s name originates from its location at the junction of Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.

You can transfer between campuses during your studies, and your I-20 will be updated accordingly.
Total Tuition
For Master’s Program: The total tuition is $17,250 (10 courses, 30 credits, $575/credit). Additionally, you need to choose 0.5 CPT credits per semester.
For Doctoral Program: The DIT program’s total tuition is $42,000 (20 courses, 60 credits, $700/credit). Additionally, you need to choose 0.5 CPT credits per semester.
Program Duration
Master’s program : Master’s program duration is 2.5 years, completing 5 semesters of courses. If it is your first master’s program, you can apply to complete it in 1 year, ensuring that the full-time CPT usage is less than one year during the study period, allowing you to apply for up to 3 years of OPT after graduation.
Doctoral Program: The DIT program duration can be completed in 2-5 years. If the full-time CPT usage is less than one year during the study period, you can apply for up to 3 years of doctor-level OPT after graduation.
Enrollment Windows Each Year
Master’s program: January, March, June, August, October (can graduate in one year from any start window)
DIT program: January and August
CPT Approval Documents Requirement
Job Offer and CPT agreement. If the employer does not sign the agreement, an employment verification letter provided by the employer can be used instead. For a template recommended by the school, you can contact CISI.
Onsite Class Frequency and Schedule
The entire program adopts a hybrid model. You need to attend an onsite in-person class once per semester, which may be scheduled on a Saturday or Sunday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Arriving late will be considered absent.
Application Materials Requirement

- English proficiency test scores (waived for applicants with a U.S. degree)
- Recommendation letters (can be waived)

- Financial proof (no less than $17,250, financial proof can be under another person’s name with supporting documents)
Processing Time for Admission
Typically 2-3 weeks. CISI offers free expedited processing to receive an offer on the same day or the next day.
Application Deadlines
According to the school website, the deadline is two weeks before the start of classes; however, if there are too many applicants, the school may close the application early.
Scholarships
Scholarships are only available for undergraduate students. Even without scholarships, the total cost is still much lower than programs that offer scholarships. CISI offers exclusive scholarships for new students. Applicants who fill in CISI on the application form and maintain a GPA > 3.0 in the first semester qualify for the $500 minimum Good Status Scholarship.
